The women shaping the future don't always recognize themselves in the media created for them.
They're building careers no one in their family has held. Redefining partnership, success, motherhood, friendship, and community on their own terms. Creating new traditions while deciding which old ones deserve to be carried forward. They are living lives that require both independence and responsibility, ambition and discernment, individuality and influence.
They are living as Miss while becoming Matriarch.
Miss Matriarch exists for them.
We are a contemporary media and cultural platform for Black women navigating the complexity of modern womanhood. Through storytelling, conversation, original programming, and shared experiences, we explore the ideas, relationships, ambitions, and cultural moments that shape how women understand themselves and the world around them.
We believe culture isn't something that happens somewhere else. It is created every day—in our conversations, our choices, our relationships, our work, our style, our families, and the ways we make meaning of our lives. The stories that deserve the most attention are often the ones unfolding long before they're recognized as part of the culture.
Our purpose is to create a home for those stories.
We believe thoughtful media should leave people with more to consider, not simply more to consume.
We value curiosity over certainty.
Nuance over oversimplification.
Conversation over performance.
Questions that open dialogue rather than opinions that end it.
Our work isn't built around telling women who to become. It's built around creating space to better understand who they already are, what they're navigating, and what they're building.
Meet the Founder
I created Miss Matriarch because I kept seeing how much of Black women’s lived experience was being flattened, summarized, or explained from the outside.
I’m interested in the conversations women are already having—the ones about identity, ambition, relationships, family, visibility, and the everyday decisions that shape a life. My work sits at the intersection of storytelling and cultural interpretation, with a focus on how meaning is formed in real time, not after the fact.
Miss Matriarch is my way of building a space that treats those conversations as serious cultural material.
